A handcrafted Decorative Centre Door Knob, inspired by Robert Adam.
Part of the beautiful Robert Adam range of window and door furniture; these very highly decorative door handles are hand-crafted and cast from premium grade, solid brass.
Robert Adam was a Scottish neoclassical architect and interior designer. A leader of the first phase of the classical revival in England and Scotland from around 1760 until his death, he influenced the development of Western architecture, both in Europe and North America.
He left for Rome in 1754, spending nearly five years on the continent studying architecture, where he was greatly influenced by his "grand Tour" of Italy. On his return to Britain he established a practice in London, where he was joined by his younger brother James. Here he developed the "Adam Style" and his theory of "movement" in architecture, based on his studies of antiquity. Here he became one of the most successful and fashionable architects in the country.
The "Robert Adam" range of door furniture reflects the magnificent neo-classical interiors that he became renowned for. The unique surface features and motifs, along with the distinctive edge details, set this range apart from its contempories in the period.
A beautifully crafted, British made Centre Door Knob (pull knobs for the front door), which add the perfect finishing touch to your front door.
These centre door knobs are “pull knobs”, not “working” front door knobs. They are fitted in the centre of the door and bolted through from the back of the door, either for purely aesthetic / decorative purposes or to be used as pull knobs, to help close your front door.
They can be supplied as either solid brass centre door knobs (choose from lacquered or unlacquered) or in one of the range of plated or applied finishes.
The plated and applied finishes range from both antique to contemporary, so will suit almost any style of decor. Choose from a range of brass, chrome and nickel finishes, in antique, polished or satin styles.
This centre door knob is also available in gold or silver plate.
Silver centre door knobs are available as either plain silver plated door pulls or antique silver door pulls.
Gold centre door knobs are available in either Titanium Gold or in Antique Gold Plate.
Titanium gold centre door knobs are supplied in a gold coloured PVD finish. PVD stands for “Physical Vapour Deposition”. This is a state-of-the-art process where molecules of hardwearing metals are deposited onto the metal surface. This microscopic layer protects the finish from discolouration. This protective layer makes this gold door pull especially suitable for use in normally high wear-and-tear situations, such as stately homes, public buildings, retail establishments, hotels and commercial premises.
